For those of us in the industry, we know how vital truckers are throughout the year. But as part of the holiday season, we at Front Range Compliance wanted to say thank you to all of the transportation industry for another holiday season!
While the majority of the country is preparing for time off for the holidays, travel, and many other seasonal traditions, the transportation industry is preparing for something completely different. This time of year is the busiest time of year for many industries, but specifically for the transportation industry. Many truckers will work seven days a week, delivering billions of packages and other goods either directly to the consumer or to retailers across the country.
The United States Postal Service expects more than 800 million packages to be delivered in the United States alone between Thanksgiving and New Years Day. That averages nearly 30 million packages a day.
While presents and packages are usually one of the first correlations people make with this season, food is also a huge part of the season and a huge contributor to the seven-day work week truckers have during this time of year.
The United States is the largest producer and exporter of turkey. In 2021 in the United States alone 5.1 billion pounds of turkey was consumed, and 216.5 million turkeys were raised with around 46 million turkeys consumed just around the holiday season. Yet another contributor to the 70-hour work weeks expected of truckers this season.
